Luke had met your extended family multiple times before, and each and every time he went with you to your grandparents’ house where everyone was gathered your little niece would avoid him at all costs. Luke tried to be nice, he tried to always smile at her and he even brought her a toy once but she refused to be near him. Eventually at one point of the night Luke was out back with the men in the family drinking beer and cracking jokes while you were in the living room with your niece and you ask her why she doesn’t like Luke and she just shrugs and keeps playing with her toy so you go and sit on the floor with her and ask her again and she sighs and admits that she thinks he’s really cute which makes you giggle because you remember being nervous around cute older boys even at a young age and you tell her that he thinks she’s cute too which makes her eyes bug out and she gets even more shy for a moment but you can tell it makes her excited a little bit so when everyone’s outside for dinner she asks if she can sit between you and Luke which makes you smile and he looks at you incredulously but you just shrug and say you’ll tell him later while your niece is happily swinging her legs and talking to Luke like he’s her best friend.
